Ultrasonic dork bark controller devices are highly effective when used as dog bark deterrent and to stop dogs barking. There are some situations however where it won’t work.

When DAZER does not work
Some dogs are hard of hearing (deaf) and will not be able to hear the 25KHz high frequency. Also a puppy with an undeveloped hearing range (pups normally develop full hearing range by 9 months old) or Older dog with a loss of hearing high register hearing range.
Strong wind. The Ultrasonic Dog Deterrent directionally is affected by wind, so the aim of the sound emitted from the device is not as accurate when weather conditions are windy.
Some guard dogs are highly trained to ignore distractions.
Too far away – DAZER effective operation is 7m HUSH effective operation is 10m.
Solid objects – Will not pass through solid objects and the sound will bounce back. Needs to be a clear line of sight without obstruction.

How does an ultrasonic anti barking device work?
Ultrasonic device emits high frequency (25KHz) directional soundwaves when operated. Handheld is the preferred option for dog owners and neighbours for long term training and control to use as it does not affect us as it is seemingly silent due to the sound being high frequency and above our hearing register.
Dogs hear the high frequency sound, and it interrupts their concentration, and their response is to stop what they were doing. Barking is natural and we need to control when barking is allowable but using only when it is nuisance barking.
Do Stop Barking Devices Work?

Some factors that cause differing success, are breed, size, age, hearing, and training. NOTE The most common lack of success comes from hearing. Old dogs who have lost high frequency hearing ability and puppies who are yet to get their high frequency hearing.
Using a DAZER or HUSH for Dog training
Use the device when a dog barks or does unwanted behaviour. You want the dog to know that you are the controller of the noise. Training is enhanced if you use your verbal commands with the dog controller as an enforcer. The goal longer term is to have the dog respond to all your verbal commands.
Dog barks, you use the Stop Barking Device, and the dog stops barking. The dog learns when it barks you use the Device and with repetition it will stop.
Our personal story using DAZER for bark control
We purchased a DAZER as I was working from home (2009) and the neighbour’s dog would bark. We talked to the neighbour and they did try a few things that ultimately did not work. With researching and trying a few devices we discovered the DAZER. The dog would bark, (we had a 6ft fence) and I would go out the back door, aim the DAZER over the fence towards the dog and it would stop barking for rest of the day. This went on for a few days until all I had to do was go out the back door and it would stop. Repetition, and it did take a few weeks of going out the back door until it stopped. We would still get the odd bark about every second week but one trip out with the DAZER or sometimes just going out the back door would see the dog stop barking.
This is how we became the Australia Distributor of the DAZER and with DAZER discontinued is 2023 we have now got behind the HUSH product.
